Volunteering

The community surrounding Richmond Elementary is very supportive of our school, students, and staff. This is a big part of what makes Richmond a great school!

WATCH D.O.G.S.®, a K-12 program, invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one day all day at their child’s/student's school during the school year.

Watch D.O.G. volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher's guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.

United for Reading Success

United For Reading Success is a first grade tutorial program that focuses on increasing student reading achievement. The focus of this program is to bring students to grade level in reading by the end of the school year.  Community volunteers are recruited and receive an extensive training.  The program runs from October to May with students receiving over 70 hours of one-on-one instruction from tutors. The strategies used by the tutors reinforce the first grade reading program.

Math Achievement Partnership

Richmond Elementary participates in the Math Achievement Partnership program. Volunteers from West Business Services and the community work with primary grade students to reinforce math instruction throughout the week.
