This update, which will be effective for the 2026-27 school year, brings district policy into compliance with state law while reinforcing expectations that have long guided classroom learning and student behavior. The AASD will continue offering free healthy breakfasts and lunches at qualifying schools through the CEP program for the 2026–27 school year, while also expanding the Universal Free Breakfast program at all elementary schools and select charter schools. Families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application each year to ensure access to additional benefits, even though CEP meals do not require it. Updated meal prices and payment instructions are available online, and the Food Service office is available to help with questions.

As part of our ongoing work to support student success, a few small updates to the district’s attendance practices will take effect beginning in the 2026–27 school year. These updates are designed to create more consistency across schools and ensure students are in class and ready to learn each day
